⚓ How scientific thinking leads to more sales

Hi Reader,

A website is never done–having an effective website is an iterative process. It's a mistake to redesign and then leave it as it is. Not only do you want to update the content regularly, but it's important to continually analyze stats, try experiments, and make changes that will increase sales on the site—all of which we do at our boutique Shopify web design agency.

In the book Think Again, Adam Grant references a research study that tested scientific thinking for startup businesses. Startups in the control group averaged under $300 in revenue during the study. The startups that the researchers taught scientific thinking methods did astonishingly better. They averaged over $12,000 in revenue during this time.

That’s a huge difference and speaks to being willing to experiment, research, and try again. There is so much to do to see consistent growth and marketing success. And it's hard to get all your ongoing Shopify website maintenance and strategic optimization done in-house. What would it be like if you could have an ecommerce strategist, brand designer, web designer, developer, copywriter, photographer, and marketing experts on your team without having to hire any new employees or find a bunch of freelancers?

Hello from your new Shopify design agency: us!

My team at Aeolidia specializes in helping successful Shopify stores grow to the next level. What works on the path from 6 to 7 figures in annual ecommerce revenue is not what you need to get from 7 to 8 figures.

To reach $1 million in annual revenue, you need to ensure that all your foundational work is set up correctly and that you're focusing on the right things in the right ways. We can help with this.

Once you start making more than a few million annually, making changes to your site without testing them is extremely risky. A/B testing removes the guesswork from website optimization by providing hard data on what drives more sales. What seems like a small tweak can mean half a million in sales lost or gained for a shop that gets hundreds of thousands of visitors per month.

Rather than adjust the site based on hunches or on what competitors are doing, we can help you make improvements specific to your customer base and your brand. We can use tools to track exactly how much money is being gained or lost by a particular tweak to the site. It's important to make informed decisions once ecommerce is working well. We can also help with this!

Ongoing website optimization for DuckaDilly.

The challenge:

DuckaDilly is a fabric studio that specializes in selling Liberty Fabrics. For this, our second full redesign project with Lesley, she wanted to take a deeper look at strategy and how to best present the brand to customers and improve sales through a better website experience. She had grown out of her existing brand identity, wanting to move toward a more sophisticated and elegant look. Overall, the goal was a clearer message about who the business is and what to expect from this fabric shop website.

Signing on again with Aeolidia was the best decision for our business. Working with you both individually and as a team, you all bring such unique talent, perspective, and skill to the process. Everything from gaining more understanding about our analytics and customers, to creating a new, more sophisticated branding, we feel like we are taking an important step forward as a business. —Lesley McWilliams, DuckaDilly
