⚓️ Does your brick-and-mortar have an online shop?

Coming July 28, 9am PT / 12pm ET: Balancing a smart site with targeted traffic is vital for any online shop. I’m looking forward to sharing my expert interview at Explode Your Traffic Live! This event is packed with tools, strategies, and free gifts to help you grow your business.

Hi Reader,

Have you been in business for years, but you wouldn’t know it from your website? If your online store doesn’t represent your in-person experience, it’s doing you a disservice.

Whether you’ve owned your brick and mortar store for years, have recently become the owner of an established business, or you’re new to in-person retail, it’s important to also have a strong ecommerce presence. Let’s talk about how to take your brick and mortar online without all the muss, fuss, and research of trying to figure it out yourself.

Brick and mortar shops are a vibrant part of their local communities. We think it’s important for an in-person shop’s online presence to be up to date and show the personality of the business, just the same as when you’re in the store. You don’t want locals who are new to your shop to get a bad impression, and imagine if you could reach thousands of customers outside of your neighborhood. What would that do for your business?

We were so moved by how cohesive the site looks that we have decided to consider it a third store that will be ‘turned’ as well. You have put so many lovely elements in it that we realized pretty quickly that we couldn’t look at it as just a sales site, it is a store and it needs to nurtured and maintained as one. As we move forward with marketing, we will be keeping that in mind to bring the best we can with content and design to this lovely little spot on the internet.

FAQ

My shop is new to online retail. How do we start getting traffic to the new site?

A: This is an important question. The best website in the world won’t be any good if no one knows about it. Every website strategy should balance both website tactics and driving traffic.

From our end, we offer SEO and email marketing services. It's taken me over a decade to find a reliable SEO expert who is easy to understand and brings actionable ideas that really work. He'll tell you exactly what to do so you can save money by doing it yourself, and he also offers a "done for you" service where he handles the most important priorities.

As for email, as a benchmark, we expect at least 25% of your Shopify revenue to be attributed to your Klaviyo flows and campaigns. For accounts that are already doing well, we can often push that to 30-40%.

Most online shops pay for ads on Meta or Google. Our ads partner is fantastic because she'll review all your numbers and only suggest ads if you're well-positioned to get a good return on your investment. Unlike most agencies, she can get you set up and teach you how to do it yourself, so you don't have a monthly expense (or she can do it for you if you don't have the extra time on your hands).
