Hi Reader,
Your unique products deserve a stage as stand-out as the products themselves. That was the case for paper goods company E. Frances Paper and their brilliant, signature product, Little Notes®.
Our team quickly learned that there was more to these 3.5×2 inch cards than meets the eye. The tiny note cards are used as gift tags, place cards, bookmarks, and lunch notes, and over 40 million cards have been shared worldwide. It was a clear priority of our custom website project to create a dedicated spot for these beloved and popular note cards.
We designed and built a custom collections page highlighting the special features of the Little Notes®, inviting quick and easy purchases, and doubling as an ad landing page—all while infusing delightful details into the design.
The custom collections page features include the following:
Custom Hero section with shoppable Hot Spots.
SEO-optimized collection description paired with hand-drawn icons that illustrate the Little Notes® features.
Callout content areas throughout the page for storytelling, education, and social proof to boost sales.
Product listings with a secondary hover image, a convenient Add to Cart link so customers can add notes to their shopping bags without visiting the product detail page, and illustrated badges highlighting new or sale products.
According to stats, over half of E. Frances Paper's customers shop on their phones, so the mobile user experience was optimized.
Do you have a special product or collection that would sell better with this kind of attention to detail? We would love to help. Please email me back with a link to your unique product so we can start making a plan for it together.
Q&A
Here's a reader question about Etsy from Laura, as answered by Helen Hulskamp, Ecommerce Strategist on our team: Q: Laura asks, "Is it worth having an Etsy store at all? I've been reading a lot about how terrible they are to their sellers and I'm now scared I'm wasting my time."
A: It is very important to have your own ecommerce site at your own domain where you can control your relationship with your customers. Our recommendation for ecommerce is Shopify. That said, many of the brands we work with choose to maintain their Etsy shop and consider it almost as a marketing channel. An Etsy shop can expand your reach by tapping into a large marketplace of shoppers seeking unique products. Though you can’t directly drive traffic from Etsy to your Shopify site, having a presence on both platforms can increase your visibility.
However, Etsy is not a low-effort channel. Competition on Etsy is high, and Etsy SEO has its own skill set, which is different from SEO for Google. If you don’t have bandwidth for both Shopify and Etsy, we recommend focusing on building your brand on your Shopify site. If you already have an established Etsy site, it may be worth keeping it up.
Our team includes experts in branding, design, development, email & SMS/text marketing, search engine optimization, copywriting, conversion optimization, ecommerce strategy, business growth, and more. Email me back with your question! I'll consult one of our experts and share one weekly response over email.
