I have been quietly sitting on some very exciting news! Thanks to Aeolidia designer Christine Castro Hughes introducing me to author Amanda Jane Jones, I have been interviewed and am featured in a book about mothers who have founded businesses: Mother/Founder! Credit also goes to Alt Summit for bringing us all together while this idea was cooking.
SQUEAL!!!
I haven't even seen it yet! The photos that Momoko Fritz took of me and my family are absolutely precious, and it will be a joy to have this book in my hands. I shared some thoughts on how I balance entrepreneurship with motherhood, and I think there will be a section about how we manage a four day week at Aeolidia. It is completely packed with stories and useful information from dozens of super inspirational business owners (get a sneak peek at who they are here). Talk about being in good company!
Here is the description of the book:
An inspirational and empowering celebration of more than sixty women who are both dedicated mothers and successful entrepreneurs. Starting a business can be daunting, scary, and exciting, all at once; so too can starting a family. But they can coexist—as the incredible roster of women in this book demonstrate, entrepreneurship can be both a sustainable and fulfilling model for working motherhood. Each woman profiled here shares insights from her journey as well as powerful lessons and practical advice, including:
How to plan for maternity leave
The benefits of sharing financial information with your peers
Key points to include when drafting a contract
Creative ways to include your kids in your work
Building support systems, from advisory boards to nanny shares
Resources for securing grants and fellowships
Tips for preparing taxes as a freelancer
How to avoid the “mom guilt” trap
Filled with first-person stories of designers, makers, CEOs, farmers, pastry chefs, artists, lawyers, educators, and more, Mother / Founder captures with unprecedented candor the unique challenges and joys of what it means to launch and run a business while being just as fiercely dedicated to raising children.
“Reading this book is like being invited into a circle of wise and brilliant mothers who generously share their experience and advice on creating fulfilling careers on their own terms. An empowering reminder that there is no one perfect blueprint to motherhood and successful entrepreneurship.”

A Shopify website, branding, and email marketing for Lee Brevard.
The Challenge
Since 1979, Lee Brevard has designed and manufactured their high-end line of jewelry with exquisite materials and a laid back attitude. With a time-tested legacy as a trailblazing brand, their team came to us to bridge the gap between their iconic status and a website that was creating a growth-limiting perception. It was time for their site to reflect the soulful, strong willed, rock ‘n’ roll attitude that defines their jewelry line. They chose Aeolidia to be a strategic partner for this much-needed brand alignment.
Our Approach
We captured the essence of Lee Brevard’s aesthetic by filling in the holes in their brand strategy and identity design, and by crafting a tagline meant to resonate with their particular audience. Leveraging a premium Shopify theme, we blended captivating design with intuitive functionality to engage visitors. Our approach included comprehensive app integrations, SEO, and email marketing strategy, which provided Lee Brevard with essential tools and a strong foundation to excel with ecommerce.
