It's that gifty time of year! Along with thinking of presents for your family and friends, if you run a business, you may be planning more gifts. For your team, colleagues, partners, and clients, or best B2B customers.
I agonize about this every year, so I thought I'd share some of my go-to finds for giving corporate-type gifts, in case it helps you out.
Easy gifts
Postable cards
While I love a handwritten paper card, sometimes you want to send hundreds of them, or you're in a hurry, and many of our favorite stationery brands have card designs at Postable. They have a handy system to help you personalize and send cards without ever touching an envelope. They'll also remind you about birthdays, once you have your address book set up.
Goody gifts
Here's another incredibly simple option, particularly useful when you don't know your recipient's mailing address or want to send something and have them receive it today. Also: if you get them the wrong thing, they can exchange it for whatever else they want! Use my Goody link, and you'll get a $20 gift credit - that's one free gift for someone!
Sweet treats
Levain Bakery
Levain Bakery in New York sends cookies across the country, and they have a very easy-to-use corporate gifting system to enter a bunch of addresses. Use my Levain link, and you'll get $15 off your first $52 order. I started sending these after receiving them and being delighted by how fresh and delicious they were!
Jeni's Ice Creams
Oh man! I was gifted Jeni's ice cream this year, and it was so fun to open the package with the dry ice; I felt like I was deactivating a bomb. And now I'm hooked on some of the most expensive ice cream in my grocery store (Boston Cream Pie is my favorite). Your team will be surprised and delighted with this gift. They also do corporate gifting. Sign up for their rewards with my link and get a free mystery pint!
O&H Danish Bakery
In another giftee-turned-gifter scenario, I received this magnificent buttery, fruity kringle from O&H Danish Bakery years ago, and it's been a go-to gift for me ever since. They arrive perfect and delicious and can be kept in the fridge or freezer for a long time. They also offer corporate gifting and make it super easy to reorder year after year.
For Creatives
UPPERCASE Magazine
A subscription to UPPERCASE magazine (For the Creative and Curious), or a bundle of Janine's amazing Encyclopedias of Inspiration, makes a thoughtful gift. See all her gifting options here. You can use the code aeolidia15, which offers CA$15 off subscription and renewals.
Polaroid printers!
I sent my team Polaroid printers last year! It felt like a fun way to be creative (there's an app for making photo mosaics) and to get out of that digital headspace a bit.
Uncommon Goods
Weird and wonderful things at Uncommon Goods! They partner with independent makers, are a B Corp, and are bound to have something cool that your recipient has never seen before. Similar: it's fun to check out the MoMA Design Store.
I hope you have fun with that list! If you have any go-to gifts that work well for businesses, I'd love to hear.
Q&A
No question this week, but I'm gathering my team's recent finds from our #solutions Slack channel! #solutions
It’s now possible to create products with up to 2,048 variants in Shopify, a significant increase from our long-standing limit of 100 (word on the street is that you should keep it to no more than 250, though, because above that you have to switch from Liquid to JavaScript). —Arianne
For those of you who miss Google Reader and have subscribed to too many Substacks, I stumbled upon Meco and I loooove it, as it actually does hide the newsletters I tell it to from my inbox and into the app. —Holly
You can now filter between human and bot traffic in your Shopify Analytics reports, giving you clearer insights into actual customer behavior. —Helen
Kind of wild: Shopify is giving some merchants $1000 to run ad campaigns using Shop Campaigns (I only know about this because a shop owner we know forwarded me her email offer). —Arianne
“The” is one of the words I typo the most. I finally adjusted my keyboard shortcut settings to automatically replace “teh” and “hte” with “the.” SO MUCH BETTER. —Arianne
